Davey, Seána

rish harpist, Seána Davey comes from a family of musicians in Co. Meath. Having begun her studies on the harp with the Royal Irish Academy at the age of 7, Seána also studied the piano and learnt Irish dancing. Seána completed her grades on both instruments, meanwhile winning the titles of feiseanna, 5 All Ireland Fleadhanna Cheoil, the last being the coveted Senior Harp and 3 Oireachtas na Gaelige and Pan Celtic International harp competeitions.

Upon completing secondary school, Seána progressed to National University of Ireland, Maynooth to obtain a B.A (hons) in Music and Irish. Seána majored in performance and was awarded the highest performance grade of her year, playing a range of genres for her final performance (2008). She then moved onto University of Limerick, where she obtained a Master's of Science (MSc) in Music Technology (2010).

Seána has toured as an Irish dancer and harpist / pianist. She has worked with many singers male and female in accompaniment for recording and performances also. She was also asked to record harp playing on Celtic Thunder's albums under the direction of Phil Coulter. Seána produced her debut album, entitled 'Seána, Traditional Irish Harp'. The album is primarily traditional Irish music and includes tasteful additions by two other musicians, Stephen Doherty and Conal Early. Since its release in late December 2010, Seána's new album has been receiving critical acclaim. It was officially launched in February 2011 in The Helix, where Seána produced a full show around the launch. The program included Seána's original compositions and alternative genres like South American music.
