Born in Dublin, Peter Browne learned the Music of the uilleann pipes from three of the great masters of the instrument - Leo Rowsome, Willie Clancy and Seamus Ennis. He was a member of the groups Rafferty, 1691 and on occasion the Bothy Band and has played as a session musician on albums by Mary Black, Paul Brady, Mick Hanly, The Dubliners, Scullion and Cor Chuil Aodha. He spent several years living and working as a professional musician in Germany and has been a guest soloist with the Ulster Orchestra and the RTE Concert Orchestra.
He teaches and plays frequently at festivals and musical gatherings in ireland and abroad and has composed music. He is also a renowned broadcaster, producer and presenter for RTÉ television and radio.
